To all MCEMSA members,

Daria has been kind enough to offer to share a few remarks on my behalf, and I just wanted to say a few words to all of you.  It has been a pleasure serving as MCEMSA President for the better part of this past year.  I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and I feel that we made many positive strides as a professional organization!  We continued to offer a plethora of relevant, interesting programs for LMSs across the county and many people took advantage of them throughout the year. I think we definitely showed that MCPS Media Specialists are passionate about their profession when we waved our hot pink signs at the budget hearings in January and showed the board that we do make a difference.  And we continue to persevere toward improving the situation regarding both elementary scheduling and Media Assistant staffing. 

I am sorry that I could not be at the banquet tonight. It has been an interesting month and a half for my husband and me, and it feels strange to be calling Wilmington, DE, home now!  Baby O has not arrived yet, but I will be sure to send pictures as soon as he is born.  Many of you know that I will not be returning to MCPS next year - although I am going to definitely enjoy my time at home with our little one, I will still be in touch and will be anxious to hear about the happenings in MCPS.  Please keep in touch - I feel extremely lucky to have spent 6 years in MCPS as a Media Specialist, and to have worked with such dedicated and talented colleagues.  Have a wonderful end of the school year!
